EXPLORE GOD

The Challenge

Conventional wisdom tells us to avoid difficult conversations with family and friends. No politics, no religion. Why? Our faith, even if it’s no faith, is so central to who we are and how we interact with the world. Obviously, the topic is personal. But we have plenty of private conversations with people who are close to us. Then, why are religious discussions so difficult?

Explore God was created to help regular people make spiritual conversations more natural and healthy. As a team, we were asked to create product content and promotional materials for a coordinated initiative across 100 churches in the Austin, Texas area. The content included both sermon guides and discussion group material.

By the way, we still advise keeping politics away from the Thanksgiving dinner table. Too many sharp knives nearby.

The Solution

Our team captured footage of over 120 interviews with Christian pastors, speakers, and authors. None of these were sermons, and none were speeches. All were conversations about the person’s faith and spiritual journey, intentionally designed to model healthy discussions, including personal stories of struggle and doubt. While the topics centered around common spiritual questions, the delivery was informative without being judgmental or pressure-filled.

This product content was coupled with promotions and marketing campaigns throughout the city. When the Austin metro area launched the 8-week program, over 450 churches and 10,000 discussion groups participated.

Given the topic of faith, we should mention that we don’t take the ultimate credit for this successful launch.
